“…The B in leaves was found to be positively correlated to the soil pH and negatively correlated to soil Al 3+ and m%, which can be explained by the direct effect that the soil pH has on Al 3+ availability and consequently on the m%, although the availability of Al 3+ is also influenced by mineralogy and soil organic carbon (RABEL et al, 2018). Additionally, these correlations explained the high variation in the concentration of Mn in yerba mate leaves.…”

“…Araucaria angustifolia seed are primarily harvested from trees under native conditions in subtropical Brazil (extractivism) since there are few planted forests. In the region of occurrence, there are distinct environmental growth conditions (Alvares et al 2013;Rabel et al 2018). However, there is a lack of information regarding the nutritional composition of A. angustifolia seeds since past studies have only investigated isolated samples (Cordenunsi et al 2004;Schveitzer et al 2014).…”

“…These results can be considered promising, considering three main points:( i) there have been reports of soil Pb contamination in Paraná (Brazil) (Barbosa et al., 2020; Piedade et al., 2014); (ii) in general, soils in Paraná state are very acid (Rabel et al., 2018); and (iii) due to the high production of Limed sewage sludge in Paraná state (Bittencourt et al., 2016; Poggere et al., 2012). Considering the reduction of more bioavailable Pb fractions occurred regardless of the soil mineralogy (Figure 5), the application of limed sewage sludge can be probably efficient for Pb remediation in other places that produce this type of sewage sludge, such as Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Turkey, and the United States (Healy et al., 2016; LeBlanc et al., 2008).…”
