Abstract

This article analyzes the problems derived from the political pressures exercised by the States on the Inter American Court of Human Rights, due to the system and method used for the appointment of its Members, with particular reference to the expressions of the Venezuelan government rejection regarding the Inter American System that concluded with the denunciation of the American Convention in 2012. The study also refers to a specific case of denial of international justice before the Inter American Court: the Case Allan R. Brewer-Carías vs. Venezuela of 2014.
