Residency and fellowship program directors profoundly impact trainees, institutions, and patient safety. Yet, there is concern for rapid attrition in the role. The average program director tenure is only 4-7 years, and that timeline is likely a result of burnout or opportunities for career advancement. Program director transitions must be carefully executed to ensure minimal disruption to the program. Transitions benefit from clear communication with trainees and other stakeholders, well-planned successions or searches for a replacement, and clearly delineated expectations and responsibilities of the outgoing program director. In this Practical Tips, four former residency program directors offer a roadmap for a successful program director transition, with specific recommendations to guide critical decisions and steps in the process. Themes emphasized include readiness for a transition, communication strategies, alignment of program mission and search efforts, and anticipatory support to ensure the success of the new director.

The success of implementing educational programs will be easier when supported by the conceptual skills of the principal who is reliable in managing educational units. The purpose of the study was to analyze and describe the conceptual skills in managing quality education units at MAS Alue Tampak West Aceh, Indonesia. This article uses a descriptive qualitative analysis approach. Research subjects were determined by purposive sampling. Methods of collecting data were carried out through observation, interviews, and study of the work program. Data processing techniques were conducted by means of data verification, data presentation, data reduction and drawing conclusions. The findings are analyzed by reflecting, interpreting, looking for implications and action plans on the research results. The results of the study indicate that the principal conceptual skills need to be optimized. The conceptual skills are still categorized as weak in several activities, namely; first, in formulating and establishing strategic education plans, educational operational plans and educational administration standards. Second, in coordinating and integrating educational programs and activities, Third, in innovating towards improving and escalating as well as monitoring and evaluating the quality of education units management. Meanwhile, in terms of building a harmonious and solid teamwork, it is categorized as good.

<span lang="EN-US">The aim of this research was to investigating the structural effect of the principal change leadership on the effectiveness of online-based learning with teacher work commitment and teacher attitudes towards change as mediator variables, which were approached quantitatively. Multilevel stratified proportional random sampling technique is used in sampling, while inclusion criteria are principals and teachers of primary schools who are still active in Kutai Kartanegara, Samarinda and Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis technique is used in this research. The results of the study show that the principals’ change leadership has a direct effect on the effectiveness of online-based learning, as well as an indirect effect through teacher work commitment and teacher attitudes towards change. This research contributes both theoretically and practically, where the change leadership demonstrated by the principal can ideally encourage teacher work commitment and teacher attitudes towards change, which in turn can promote the effectiveness of the implementation of online learning, as an effort to meet student learning needs.</span>
