LncRNA MALAT1 Promotes Tumor Angiogenesis by Regulating MicroRNA-150-5p/VEGFA Signaling in Osteosarcoma: In-Vitro and In-Vivo Analyses

Abstract: The present study aims to analyze the expression of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) in human osteosarcoma (OS) cells and to investigate its role in OS-induced angiogenesis. MALAT1 expression in OS cells was significantly higher than in normal osteoblasts. The functional analysis indicated that MALAT1 appears to enhance OS-induced angiogenesis, in vitro and in vivo analyses, endothelial cell proliferation and migration, chick embryo angiogenesis assay,… Show more

“…As to osteosarcoma, there are many published articles demonstrating that lncRNAs participate in the development of OS by regulating cell proliferation, migration, metastasis, apoptosis and chemoresistance [ 6 , 7 , 18 , 31 , 32 ]. For instance, LncRNA MALAT1 promotes tumor angiogenesis by regulating microRNA-150-5p/VEGFA signaling in osteosarcoma [ 33 ]; LncRNA SNHG16 promotes epithelial-mesenchymal transition by upregulating ITGA6 through miR-488 inhibition in osteosarcoma [ 34 ]; LncRNA HCG18 promotes osteosarcoma growth by enhanced aerobic glycolysis via the miR-365a-3p/PGK1 axis [ 35 ] and so on.…”

“…Furthermore, lncRNA MELTF-AS1 regulated the expression of MMP14 and enhanced osteosarcoma metastasis ( 35 ). In addition, lncRNA MALAT1 sponged miR-150-5p and increased the expression of VEGFA and enhanced tumor angiogenesis in osteosarcoma ( 36 ). LncRNA PURPL affected tumor-associated macrophages through modulating miR-363 and PDZD2 in osteosarcoma cells ( 37 ).…”

“…The lncRNAs can target several miRNAs and the lncRNA-miRNA network serves a crucial role in tumors [ 28 , 29 ]. For instance, linc00337 expression increases in lung adenocarcinoma, while its knockdown in cell lines could suppress cellular activities by targeting miR-1285-3p [ 27 ].…”
