There was a significant increase in alcohol-based-sanitizer–related eye chemical injuries, many of which involved children 22,23,34,35. It is likely that most alcohol-based sanitizers were installed at the waist height of an adult in public, which approximated a child’s eye level and rendered children prone to ocular chemical injuries when these alcohol-based sanitizers were activated in close proximity to them.…”
