“…Several previous studies have concluded that the relationship between serum leptin and lipid (cholesterol and triglycerides) concentrations was not statistically significant when adjusted for variations in age and body mass index . By contrast, in other studies, leptin was reported to be positively correlated with cholesterol in healthy dogs and with triglycerides . In addition, leptin was found to play a role in the decrease in very‐low‐density lipoprotein triglyceride after weight loss .…”

“…Our results showed that increased leptin levels may be associated with insulin resistance because leptin levels were positively correlated with fasting serum insulin levels and HOMA‐IR index and negatively with QUICKI. In the Brazilian study, higher leptin levels were positively correlated with insulin resistance (HOMA‐IR index) in children and adolescents (Gonzaga, Medeiros, de Carvalho, & Alves, ). In addition, the fasting leptin level is negatively associated with insulin sensitivity in women with a previous history of gestational diabetes mellitus (Madarász et al, ).…”

“…Increased leptin levels were associated with elevated uric acid levels (de Oliveira and Burini, 2012), and leptin might be a useful marker of the metabolic syndrome in adolescents (Gonzaga et al, 2014). The present study found that serum uric acid levels linearly increased with increased serum leptin levels, which is consistent with the previous report (Fruehwald-Schultes et al, 1999).…”
