“…Pressure spikes after LI occur most frequently within the first 2 hours (Robin & Pollack 1984), while the IOP‐lowering effect of latanoprost reaches its peak 8–12 hours after administration (Villumsen & Alm 1992; Watson et al. 1996; Lindén & Alm 1997). In the present study, latanoprost was instilled 90 min before LI for reasons of practice feasibility so that patients did not have to spend a long time waiting in hospital.…”

“…Clinical study, however, shows a partially additive hypotensive effect when PGF 2 α is combined with pilocarpine (Friström & Nilsson 1993). Furthermore, Lindén & Alm (1997) demonstrated that administration of a strong cholinergic agent, physostigmine salicylate 8 mg/mL, every 2 hours could neither maintain a sustained contraction of the ciliary muscle nor abolish the hypotensive effect of latanoprost in healthy volunteers. The authors believe that pretreatment with a cholinergic agonist should not prevent latanoprost from reaching the FP receptors in human ciliary muscles.…”
