Laserterapia de Baixa Intensidade no Tratamento de Desordens Temporomandibulares

Abstract: As disfunções temporomandibulares (DTMs) compreendem alterações músculo-esqueléticas causadas por diversos fatores relacionados a aspectos físicos, psicológicos e sociais. Show more

“…LLLT is a low-cost, noninvasive form of treatment that offers pain relief, a reduction in inflammation and enhanced tissue regeneration [1-3,6,11,20-22]. While a number of studies report the use of LLLT for the treatment of TMD, [1-3,6,7,11-13,20-25] few papers have addressed treatment in adolescents. Thus, the investigation of the effects of LLLT in the adolescent population with TMD is of extreme importance to outlining an effective treatment protocol for pain relief and improving the quality of life of affected individuals.…”

“…The low-intensity laser comes in many cases as an alternative therapy for the treatment to disorders of the maxillo-facial region and joint pain, neuralgia and paresthesia 13 . The main justification for the use of low intensity laser therapy (LILT) on TMD is due to its analgesic effects (seen in most studies in the literature 14,15 ) anti-inflammatory properties and its tissue repairing effect with modulation of cellular activity [16][17][18] . LILT influences changes with metabolic energetic and functional character, as it promotes increasing of cells strength and vitality, leading them to their normal functioning quickly 19 .…”
