La recherche-action participative SPINCOOP : récit de la coopération entre maraîchers et chercheurs dans l’adaptation du modèle SPIN Farming à Bruxelles

Abstract

La Recherche Action Participative (RAP) fournit un cadre épistémologique pour le traitement de problématiques complexes et transversales et impliquant de travailler avec les acteurs de terrains. Cet article entend contribuer à la mise en réflexion des processus de constitution du collectif, de co-production des savoirs et des modes de traduction de ceux-ci dans une RAP, à partir de la description et l'analyse du projet SPINCOOP. Mené entre 2015 et 2018 avec deux (néo)maraîchers urbains en phase d'installation, le projet SPINCOOP a traité la question de la viabilité de ce type d'initiatives, en confrontant les aspirations des maraîchers avec les modalités de leur mise en pratique dans le contexte bruxellois. L'article met en récit l'aventure co-créative du projet SPINCOOP et montre comment les co-chercheurs ont collaboré tout au long d'un processus de recherche présenté en trois phases : (i) la co-création du partenariat et de la problématique de recherche autour d'une vision systémique de la viabilité, (ii) la coproduction des savoirs par le biais de dimensions de travail et de dispositifs adaptés, illustrée par l'accès à la terre pour exemplifier la mécanique méthodologique du projet et (iii) l'appropriation des savoirs co-produits par les acteurs de terrain. Ce récit permet de poser ensuite un regard réflexif sur les difficultés inhérentes à la RAP et au délicat équilibre entre recherche et action qu'elle requiert. L'expérience SPINCOOP met en lumière la nécessité d'un changement de posture, non seulement chez les co-chercheurs, mais aussi au sein des organismes de financement afin de dépasser les paradoxes inhérents, entre autres, à l'horizon temporel et aux conditions parfois limitantes imposées par les bailleurs de fonds. ABSTRACT. Participatory action research (PAR) provides an epistemological framework to apprehend complex transversal problems that require one to work with local stakeholders. Drawing on the description and analysis of the SPINCOOP project, this paper seeks to provide insight into the processes involved in building the partnership and in producing knowledge, as well as insight into ways to translate these in a PAR study. SPINCOOP was implemented between 2015 and 2018 with two urban neo-farmers. The project addresses the viability of urban market gardening initiatives by contrasting the aspirations of neo-farmers and the modalities of their implementation in the context of Brussels. The paper thus tells the co-creative research story of SPINCOOP in three phases: (i) the co-creation of partnership and the problem around a systemic vision of viability; (ii) the co-production of knowledge through the continuous adaptation of methodological frameworks, illustrated with strategies to access land; and (iii) the appropriation of the knowledge co-produced by stakeholders both within and beyond the project.
