“…The original descriptioti by Kaposi of licheti ruber acuminatus (verrucosus et reticularis) (Kaposi, 1895) has been confused with a sitnilar though non-hyperkeratotic linear papular condition, lichen ruber moniliformis, that Kaposi had described 9 years earlier (Kaposi, 1886). It is partly due to this that several authors (Wise & Rein, 1936;Nekam, 1938b;Aguade, De Asprer & Fernando, 1974;Degos et al, 1974;Margolis, Cooper & Johnson, 1972) have suggested alternative nomenclature. Although latterly the consistent use of keratosis lichenoides chronica has stabilized nomenclature it has not contributed to an understanding of the aetiology.…”

“…This rare condition is very refractory to treatment but we report a patient whose eruption responded to photochemotherapy.Keratosis lichenoides chronica is a rare dermatosis characterized by a seborrhoeic dermatitislike eruption of the face and scalp, together with violaceous papular and nodular lesions, often arranged in a linear and reticulate pattern, most marked on hands and feet. Histologically changes are often non-specific and consistent with a chronic dermatitis, but lichenoid features are sometimes seen (Margolis, Cooper & Johnson, 1972). Isolated case reports have confirmed the resistance of this dermatosis to all therapeutic approaches.…”

“…They are arranged in linear or reticular patterns. A concurrent seborrheic dermatitis-like facial eruption is also often present 2, 3. Behcet disease, which is also characterized by mucosal ulceration, typically presents with a papulopustular eruption, helping to differentiate these 2 etiologies 4 .…”
