The literature contains numerous examples of faulty diagnosis, where tumors which were considered to be typical kerato-acanthomas both clinically and histologically, later turned out to be squam ous cell carcinomas and, in some cases, even metastasizing [1,2,3,5,6,11]. On the basis of such experiences, many of the authors point out that patients with suspected keratoacanthoma should always be examined by specially trained dermatologists and histopathologists, and they should also be checked at very frequent intervals during the posttreatment period.…”
