“…Although the pathogenic significance of these antibodies in patients with linear scleroderma is unclear, it suggests that immunologic mechanisms may play a role in the pathogenesis. It should also alert the physician to evaluate for other possible collagen vascular diseases or a usual overlap syn- drome (12,13). The course of the scleroderma and clinical and laboratory findings consistent with SLE in our patient are indicative of coexistence rather than overlap between the two diseases.…”
