Isotomidae of Japan and the Asiatic part of Russia. I. Folsomia ‘inoculata’ group

Abstract: The paper considers blind species of the genus Folsomia having two pairs of macrosetae on both meso- and metathorax and united in so-called ‘inoculata’ group, which is given a new, more laconic definition. Morphological characters important in the group’s taxonomy are discussed and a further division into four subgroups is proposed. Eight new species, i.e., F. amurica Potapov & Kuznetsova, sp. n., F. breviseta Potapov & Kuznetsova, sp. n., F. calcarea Potapov, sp. n., F. imparis Potapov & Hasegawa, sp. n., F. … Show more

“…Bleached individuals were not included in bulk stable isotope measurements. Individuals were determined at species or morpho-species level using relevant literature (Potapov 1991 , 2001 ; Thibaud et al 2004 ; Jordana 2012 ; Sun and Wu 2012 ; Yu et al 2016 ; Potapov et al 2018 , 2020 ; Weiner et al 2019 ; Sun et al 2020 ; Sun 2021 ; Xie et al 2019 , 2022 ). Species accounting for the top 80% of total abundance per elevation were used for stable isotope analysis resulting in a total of 19 species.…”

“…inoculata Stach, 1947. A widespread montane species distributed almost throughout the Palaearctic and the Pacific coast of North America [Potapov et al, 2018]. In the North Ossetian Nature Reserve, this species is quite common [Kuchiev, 2006].…”

“…We list below all the species of the region, redescribe little-known species, and describe two new ones. This paper is our second special contribution to taxonomy of Asiatic species of Isotomidae of Russia and Japan (Potapov et al 2018). Following our results, the fauna of Tetracanthella of the Far East of Russia and Japan is represented by eight and two species, respectively, including still undescribed forms.…”
