“…of biological and pharmacological properties, including antibiotic, [18,19] antiviral, [20,21] neuroleptic, [22,23] cytotoxic, [24,25] antiparasitic, [24,26] and antifungal [27,28] activities. As part of ongoing screening studies for new biologically active metabolites based on our highly diverse fungal strain collection, we found that the culture extract of Gliocladium album (Preuss) Petch significantly inhibited the growth of various phytopathogenic organisms.…”

“…This peptaibol was isolated from the mycelium and culture broth of a surface culture of Emericellopsis donezkii HKI 0059 at the Hans‐Knöll‐Institut für Naturstoff‐Forschung, Jena, Germany 46–48. The fungus was grown in a liquid medium (pH 6.0) composed of malt extract (20 g/L), glucose (10 g/L), yeast extract (1 g/L), and (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 (5 g/L).…”

“…Here, we present the results of our study aiming at the generalization of our methodology, with an extension to the use of a 13 C‐NMR parameter. We applied our method to a selected group of helical, Iva‐containing, natural peptaibiotics along with one synthetic analogue, spanning different main‐chain lengths, from 14‐mers (“medium length”) to 17‐mers (“long”): antiamoebin I,12, 31–45 bergofungin A,13, 46–49 neoefrapeptin A,11, 13, 50 trichotoxins A 40/5 and A 50/G,13, 51–67 and tylopeptin A and its diastereomer at position 4 49, 68. All of these have already been sequenced (see Figure 2) and chirally characterized, including the assignment of the configuration of their Iva residues by chromatographic techniques after total acid hydrolysis.…”

“…Four years later, a similar topical issue with updated studies and overviews on peptaibiotics was published in Chemistry & Biodiversity [2]. Generally, peptaibiotics exhibit a broad range of biological activities such as antibacterial [3][4][5][6][7], antifungal [8][9][10][11], antiviral [12][13][14], and antimycoplasmic [15,16]. Inhibition of mitochondrial ATPase, immunosuppression, uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation, and inhibition of platelet aggregation have also been reported [17][18][19][20].…”
