Investigation of the structural, optical, elastic and electrical properties of spinel LiZn2Fe3O8 nanoparticles annealed at two distinct temperatures

Abstract: Nanoparticles of Li0.5ZnFe1.5O4 (LiZn2Fe3O8) with the spinel structure were prepared by a sol–gel auto-combustion method at two different annealing temperatures.

“…The value transverse wave velocity (n s ), longitudinal wave velocity (n l ), mean elastic wave velocity (n m ), Young's modulus (E), rigidity modulus (G), Poisson's ratio (s), and Debye temperature (q E ) of the present system were calculated using the standard formulas available in the literature. 12,13 The calculated values of elastic parameters for all the compositions (Table S4 †) are in good agreement to those obtained from ultrasonic pulses transmission (UPT) technique. 50 The values of elastic properties increase with the increase of annealing temperature, which indicates that the size of particles has large impact on elastic properties of spinel ferrite.…”

“…It is well known from past reports on ferrite spinel that, the absorption can be attributed to the photo-excitation of electrons from the valence band to the conduction band (ligand-to-metal (p-d) type charge transition O 2p / Fe 3d ) or to the 3d 5 -3d 4 4s 1 transition in Fe 3+ ions. 12 Interestingly, a slightly redshi in the absorption edge was observed as the size of grain increases. This might be due to changes in their morphologies, particle size, carrier concentrations, surface microstructures, presence of very small amount of impurities, lattice strain and oxygen vacancy.…”

“…The Z 0 behaviour of our compounds at low and high frequencies is in perfect agreement with the results reported in the literature. 42 In the intermediate frequency region, a gradual decrease in Z 0 with increasing frequency and temperature was observed for all compounds which is a sign of the great charge carriers mobility, indicating a reinforcement of the electrical conductivity by increasing the temperature and the frequency. 43 We also note that for the compounds with x > 0.10, and in the region of the intermediate frequencies, Z 0 presents a small plateau, then decreases thereaer until the fusion towards the high frequencies.…”
