Pharmacokinetics of oxytetracycline in hemolymph from the Chinese mitten crab,Eriocheir sinensis

“…However, results of the current study showed that the times to peak concentration (8 h) were postponed for the middle‐ and high‐dose. This could be explained by a diuresis in the animals given a large volume of fluid containing the OTC dose at time zero and diuresis of excess fluid over time might cause the hemolymph OTC concentration to rise hours after the injection (Norfolk & Craik, 1980).…”

Norfolk and Craik (986) demonstrated that extracts of neural tissue (cerebral ganglion, thoracic ganglion, leg nerve) could directly stimulate urine production in an isolated crab antennal gland; they suggested that this is the result of a diuretic eyestalk factor which increases the permeability of the antennal gland.…”
