“…The new (CO) bands observed in this study are not attributable to this dimeric species. The two bands at 1,902 and 1,963 cm Ϫ1 can be assigned to the solvated dicarbonyl species Re(Cp)(CO) 2 (CH 4 ) (7) by comparison to previous lowtemperature IR and room temperature TRIR experiments (38,44). The bathochromic shift in the (CO) bands compared with the parent species is consistent with loss of the -acceptor ligand.…”

“…Previously, the lower limit of the ReOheptane binding enthalpy has been reported to be 57 kJ⅐mol Ϫ1 (23). Other lower limits for the ReOalkane binding enthalpy have been in the range of 32-46 kJ⅐mol Ϫ1 (38). The ⌬H ‡ for the reaction of Re(Cp)(CO) 2 (C 2 H 6 ) with CO in liqC 2 H 6 (43 Ϯ 2 kJ⅐mol Ϫ1 ) (41) is the same as that of the corresponding reaction of 12/13 (43 Ϯ 2 kJ⅐mol Ϫ1 ).…”

“…Inspection of existing experimental and theoretical evidence provides guidance in the design of such a complex. Using solution-phase TRIR spectroscopy, Childs et al revealed a trend that is critical to the choice of metal center (34,35). The group studied the reaction of complexes of the form CpM(CO) x (n-heptane) with CO, and found that the rate of displacement of n-heptane by CO decreased with the identity of M both across and down Groups 5, 6, and 7 of the periodic table.…”

“…Re(Cp)(CO) 2 Xe (Cp ϭ 5 -C 5 H 5 ) was shown by using time-resolved IR (TRIR) spectroscopy to be long-lived at room temperature in supercritical Xe (scXe) solution (17). Re(Cp)(CO) 2 Xe was shown to have a lifetime of up to 3.5 min at 170 K in lXe, leading to the prediction that it was a realistic goal to observe such complexes by NMR spectroscopy (18). Xe, by comparison to the other noble gases, forms the most stable organometallic complexes.…”
