“…Our findings contrast with those of Dawood et al, 9 who found that increased rates of IVT reduced length of labor; however, Dawood when a routine policy of 250 mL/h IVT was administered, and a concurrent significant reduction in cesarean delivery. However, they also found no significant reduction was demonstrated for women with unrestricted oral intake in labor.…”

“…Our findings contrast with those of Dawood et al., 9 who found that increased rates of IVT reduced length of labor; however, Dawood et al. 's review only included low‐risk women with spontaneous onset of labor, within a context of fasting from oral intake—markedly different from the population and context of our review.…”

“…We assessed existence of dehydration by examining the signs and symptoms and assessed dehydration duration only by asking the women and did not assess objectively the amount of liquids received by the women. However, the results on the woman dehydration as a risk factor of LD could be considered consistent with results of meta-analysis of the Cochrane systematic review on four trials (808 women) which indicates that in women with restricted oral intake, higher infusion rate of intravenous fluids significantly reduce the duration of labour [34]. It is probable that dehydration during labour reduces metabolic reservoirs, i.e.…”
