Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci: Role as Pathogens

The diagnosis is usually made by ocular examination and by culture and Gram stain of specimens obtained by aspirating the vitreous (59). The use of intravitreal steroids in addition to antibiotics remains controversial, although less intense intraocular inflammation has been seen in experimental infections treated with intravitreal dexamethasone in addition to intravitreal vancomycin (60).…”
