Human serum Cohn fraction IV (alpha-globulin [correction of globin] enriched) inhibits ligand binding at neurotransmitter receptors in human brain.

It was thought that these immunoglobulins (autoantibodies) may have gained Purkinje cells by way of CSF and when they were internalized reacting with immunologically identified antigens, they disrupt the Purkinje cells neuronal functions and may play a key role in the pathogenesis of PCD.…”
