“…An original and surprising observation relates to the distribution of the NADP-linked isocitrate dehydrogenase. As first shown by Hogeboom and Schneider (29) on mouse liver and confirmed later on rabbit (42) and rat (22) liver, some 10-20% of this activity sediments with the mitochondrial fraction, the remainder being in the final supernatant. In Tetrahymena pyriformis, about one-half of the activity is soluble and most of the other half is associated with peroxisomes; the mitochondria contain small but significant amounts of this enzyme (M.
