Globally, the use of temporary workers is assuming an alarming proportion and is cutting across industries from manufacturing to services, construction workers, registered nurses, bankers and information technology expects. Industries using temporary workers has surge considerably due to increased global competition and the imperative management strategy to reduce business costs in order to stay competitive on a turbulent business environment. The study examined the effects of short-term employment on an organization. The researchers employed the convergent parallel mixed method approach in an attempt to describe, explain and interpret the challenges of short-term employment contract in Ghana. This involved the use of both qualitative and quantitative tools with a study population drawn from three organizations in Accra and having a sample size of 14 respondents for the quantitative and 7 participants for the qualitative study. Though exploratory in nature, certain patterns that relate to challenges of short-term employment emerged from the analysis that centered on emotional well-being, job opportunities, financial security, job security and a sense of belongingness. These factors include insufficient socialisation, incidence of injustice arising out of summarily dismissals, marginalisation from decision-making, prospects for permanent work, lower wages and tenure, lower tolerance for inequity, low levels of commitment and curbed motivation. It is plausible that chaotic Human Resource Practices are underway with this phenomenon of Short-Term Employees in Corporate Ghana.

Pelaksanaan upacara adat rambu solo' (upacara pemakaman) di Tana Toraja dianggap sebagai sarana untuk melestarikan budaya leluhur. Pelaksanaannya membutuhkan niat yang tulus untuk menjunjung tinggi prinsip-prinsip sakral dari upacara tersebut. Namun, upacara adat rambu solo kini tidak hanya dianggap sebagai cara untuk melestarikan budaya leluhur, tetapi juga sebagai sarana untuk menunjukkan status sosial seseorang. Fenomena yang ada adalah tantangan untuk menilai akuntabilitas upacara tradisional karena meningkatnya jumlah anggota kelas menengah ke atas. Individu, dalam upaya untuk menunjukkan status sosial modern mereka, dapat melampaui batas-batas yang ditentukan dari stratifikasi sosial mereka ketika menyelenggarakan upacara tersebut. Pelanggaran ini merusak kesucian upacara tradisional dan mengganggu tatanan sosial yang sudah mapan. Oleh karena itu, patut dipertanyakan apakah pelaksanaan upacara adat masih menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai budaya leluhur atau justru menjadi ajang pamer hedonisme sosial. Dalam peradaban Tana Toraja, terdapat empat kelas sosial yang berbeda: kelas bangsawan tinggi (tana' bulaan), kelas bangsawan menengah (tana bassi), kelas orang merdeka (tana karurung), dan kelas budak (tana' kua-kua). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian fenomenologi untuk menilai keselarasan antara dana yang dialokasikan dan peraturan yang mengatur pelaksanaan upacara adat dengan hirarki sosial adat yang ada. Proses penelitian ini melibatkan beberapa tahapan, termasuk identifikasi, pemeriksaan, perbandingan, penyesuaian, deskripsi, dan kesimpulan dari tingkat akuntabilitas yang ditunjukkan oleh individu-individu yang bertanggung jawab atas penyelenggaraan upacara adat terhadap nilai-nilai budaya tradisional yang dijunjung tinggi oleh masyarakat Tana Toraja. Penelitian ini menyelidiki proses pelaksanaan audit dana adat untuk menentukan apakah terdapat kesesuaian atau penyimpangan antara dana yang dikeluarkan oleh individu atau organisasi dalam merencanakan sebuah acara adat dengan nilai-nilai budaya adat masyarakat Tana Toraja.

This study aimed to explorethe roles of the community in managing the covid-19 crisis in the Jimma Zone, Southwest Ethiopia. To achieve this, we employed a qualitative phenomenological research design. This, in turn, helped us conduct in-depth and key informant interviews and FGDs. The study participants were community members of the towns, health workers/COVID-19 task forces, religious leaders, experts from government sectors and Non-government Organizations (NGOs), resourceful community members and workers of Jimma Emergency Operation Center, and staff of the Jimma University Institute of Health. By determining their size using the data saturation point method, we selected 17 participants. Two FGDs were conducted with six participants in each group.data were then analyzed thematically. We used data sources and method triangulations to enhance the credibility of the findings. The findings of this study revealed the covid-19 crisis has brought psychosocial, economic, and spiritual problems to the community. In particular, individuals with low incomes, sectors with serious human interactions, urban dwellers, and vulnerable groups suffered significantly during the pandemic. The community applied both formal and informal techniques to respond to the pandemic. Misconceptions, poor implementation of protocols, and resource scarcity were the major challenges that the community faced in its efforts to combat the crisis. However, the community used two strategies to address the aforementioned challenges. They implemented the precautionary measures recommended by the WHO and applied the traditional social support system. Therefore, collaborative efforts are needed from the community as well as different stakeholders in campaigning to raise awareness of the importance of precautionary measures for COVID-19 prevention and control activities.
