OBJECTIVE: to identify social and environmental factors associated with hospitalization of tuberculosis (TB) patients in Manaus, Amazonas, during 2010. METHODS: this is a quantitative cross-sectional epidemiological study, with primary data collection and analysis of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), based on seropositive status. RESULTS: Among social factors for TB-HIV co-infection, the association between alcohol use and dependence was significant for employed workers; among non-co-infections, the association between income less than one minimum wage (U.S. $200) and retired people, Bolsa Família Program [Family Allowance]/other social benefits was significant. Regarding environmental factors, the association was significant for TB-HIV co-infection among those not having their own house, having masonry housing and daily garbage collection; and among non-co-infection, owning their own house, no masonry housing and lack of daily garbage collection was significant. CONCLUSION: The findings indicated that not only social factors, but also environmental ones are associated with hospitalization of tuberculosis patients, and such associations differ according to TB-HIV co-infection. Findings revealed that the non-biological factors associated with hospitalization of tuberculosis patients should be considered when caring patients with this disease.

ResumoIntrodução: As condições de saúde bucal de crianças e adolescentes hospitalizados são preocupantes em virtude do aumento da suscetibilidade de problemas bucais devido ao período de internação. Objetivo: Avaliar a condição de saúde bucal de crianças e adolescentes hospitalizados. Material e método: Esta pesquisa tratou-se de um estudo do tipo transversal, composta por uma amostra de 51 crianças e adolescentes hospitalizadas. Foi avaliada as condições de saúde bucal dos pacientes através do Índice de Sangramento Gengival (ISG), Índice de Dentes Cariados, Perdidos e Obturados, na dentição decídua e permanente, (CPOD/ceo-d) e identificação de alterações estomatológicas. Os dados foram coletados através de uma entevista e avaliação clínica. Resultados: A média de idade foi de 7,39 anos. A maioria dos pacientes era do sexo feminino (n = 23; 52,3%). Quase metade dos pacientes não realizava a higiene bucal no hospital (n = 18; 40,9%). As médias de CPO-D, ceo-d e ISG foram, respectivamente, 2,77 (±3,47), 2,54 (±2,92) e 5,86 (±7,58). Verificou-se correlação positiva e significativa entre idade, CPO-D (r =0,582; p < 0,01) e ISG (r = 0,552; p < 0,01). Conclusão: Foi constatada a deficiência das condições de saúde oral das crianças e adolescentes hospitalizados, enfatizando dessa forma os cuidados com a saúde bucal no ambiente hospitalar. AbstractIntroduction: The oral health conditions of hospitalized children and adolescents are worrisome due to the increase in the susceptibility of oral problems due to the period of hospitalization. Objective: To evaluate the oral health status of hospitalized children and adolescents. Material and methods: This study was a cross-sectional study, comprising a sample of 51 hospitalized children and adolescents. The oral health conditions of the patients were evaluated through the Gingival Bleeding Index (ISG), Caries, Lost and Sealed Index of the deciduous and permanent dentition (CPOD / ceo-d) and identification of stomatological alterations. Data were collected through an interview and clinical evaluation. Results: The mean age was 7.39 years. The majority of the patients were female (n = 23; 52.3%). Almost half of the patients did not perform oral hygiene in the hospital (n = 18, 40.9%). The mean CPO-D, ceo-d and ISG were, respectively, 2.77 (± 3.47), 2.54 (± 2.92) and 5.86 (± 7.58). There was a positive and significant correlation between age, CPO-D (r = 0.582, p <0.01) and ISG (r = 0.552, p <0.01). Conclusion: It was verified the deficiency of the oral health conditions of hospitalized children and adolescents, emphasizing in this way oral health care in the hospital environment.

Introduction: The Tuberculosis (TB) keeps being a big public health problem in the world, having the poverty, the bad life condition, the bad income distribution, the social iniquity and the disability on the health system as a substrate to its maintenance.Objective: To identify the scientific knowledge produced under the access to the health service of the homeless person sick by TB. Method:Integrative literature review conducted from April to June, 2016, having as inclusion criteria: publications written in Portuguese, English or Spanish, published from 1990 to 2015, indexed on the data basis: LILACS, SciELO, MEDLINE and Web of Science and portals Virtual Health Library (VHL) and MEDLINE/PubMed, that had the text completely available online. The data analyzes was made in qualitative terms, using the technique of content analysis proposed by Bardin, it was possible to construct three categories: Specific characteristics of the homeless people access to the health services to tuberculosis diagnostic and treatment; Access difficulty to the health care: factors related to homeless people and factors related to health services; Strategies to overcome the access difficulties of the homeless person (HLP) to the health care. Results:Pointed that the homeless people have a higher risk to get sick by TB, presenting TB incidence rate 10 to 20 times higher than the general population. Many obstacles that limited those people access to the health services were identified. Many times they presented difficulty to identify the appropriated place to search for assistance and not always this place had the opened doors to this social group.
