Interference Analysis for Multi-Carrier Systems Over Fast-Fading Multipath Channels

Abstract: In this paper, performance analysis for Multi-Carrier transmission using different pulse-shape-banks is provided for various scenarios. The pulse-shape-banks are selected based on different optimization criteria. These criteria fit into a range of considered scenarios requiring robustness against time dispersion or/and frequency dispersion while transmitting over a multi-path Rayleigh channel. Performance is provided in terms of interference power level versus normalized Doppler spread for various delay profil… Show more

“…Simulations are provided for OFDM and FBMC by setting the pulse shapes to Rect (with CP of length N − M ) and RRC pulse (with roll-off factor β = 0.25), respectively. These pulse shapes and their interference-related properties are discussed in our previous work [3], [4]. We analyze the performance of the equalization techniques discussed in section III depending on the value of the normalized Doppler spread (F d T S ) and the normalized SNR (E b /N 0 ) for OFDM and FBMC.…”

“…Another very interesting variant of MC systems is Filter-Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC) [2]. We have previously studied the severe interference such systems suffer from in single path [3] and multipath [4] channels when 1 Institute of Engineering Univ. Grenoble Alpes.…”

“…Concurrent Wireless Data Streams and Power-Transfer is an emerging area with great prospects especially with 5G rollout in Africa. In most works, spatial diversity (SD) is introduced in transmissions systems to mitigate the effect of multipath fading [19]. In lengthy links over extremely reflective surfaces like water bodies where a non-diversity link can't deliver high availability, SD is needed.…”
