A two‐dimension otolith growth inverse model

“…The third feature is that the model calculates the speed of otolith growth from grey intensity images, providing a numerical tool to extract growth rates of the otolith. Previously, the different otolith axis growth rates have been assessed on homologous growth increments and measuring their distances from the core at different radii and normalizing these distances in relation to the total radius (Gauldie & Nelson, 1990). This approach, however, does not allow for the determination of growth rates or to model them.…”
