Interaction of charge transfer fluorescence probe with non-ionic surfactants: Estimation of physico-chemical properties and association constant

Abstract: KEYWORDSFluorescence behavior of intramolecular charge transfer probe trans-ethyl-p-(dimethylamino) cinnamate (EDAC) is extremely sensitive to the local environment. This study explores the interaction of EDAC with several Igepal, Brij and Tween series of non-ionic surfactants by steady state and picoseconds time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. The physico-chemical properties, like critical micelle concentration and micropolarity of the micellar media surrounding the probe were determined. In most of the c… Show more

“…As can be seen, after micelle formation, absorbance and fluorescence increase with concentration but with different rate. Such observations were reported earlier also [23].…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…There is continuous increase in absorbance before a certain point after which absorbance increases with different rate (Fig. 9), Singh and Mitra65 have also found such results. The CMC values reported by them were agreed with the literature data.…”

“…2,38,39 The enhancement in fluorescence intensity can be attributed to the localization of DMASP in a less polar region within the IL micellar aggregates, mainly due to the reduction of nonradiative relaxation of DMASP within the confined micelle cavity. 44 TICT state is generated by the intramolecular rotation of the donor and acceptor groups of the molecule. In high-viscosity media, the probe intensity increases in terms of fluorescence due to restricted rotation.…”
