Intelligent Intrusion Detection System (In2DS) using Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: The continuous search for endurance has transformed the world into a place filled with electronic and digital security systems. Emerging technologies have metamorphosed the nature of surveillance and monitoring applications, but the sensory data collected using these gadgets still remains unreliable and poorly synchronized. In this paper, we detail a research project named Intelligent Intrusion Detection System (In2DS) for remote surveillance and monitoring applications which can greatly improve the existing s… Show more

“…Therefore, there is a need for collecting data and providing only important information to the user or the personnel [1]. The most challenging task is to be able to manage information, to provide synchronized data, and to provide event summarization which will ease the job of the user or the personnel [2]. This paper proposes a prototype system which is able to analyse events received from a surveillance system under test (SSUT).…”

“…The purpose of the surveillance system is to provide reliable information from the environment in which it is set to monitor, such as maritime surveillance [3] & [4], video surveillance [5], or intrusion detection [2]. One challenging task is to efficiently represent the information received from the surveillance system.…”

“…One of the key advantages of WSN is their ability to bridge the gap between the physical and logical world, by gathering certain useful information from the environment and communicating the collected information to powerful devices for further data processing. It can be used to monitor the environment, detect, classify, and locate specific events and track targets over a specific region [2]. Pramod et al [2] developed a system with enhanced intrusion detection capabilities that includes event based video surveillance & recording, remote mapping of location for tracking and identification of human & metallic objects, support for real time surveillance and improved alarm functionalities.…”
