Integrating African Buffalo Optimization Algorithm in AODV Routing Protocol for improving the QoS of MANET

Abstract: A Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is made up of wireless mobile nodes that do not require a central infrastructure or administration to establish a network. It is possible for the MANET nodes to function as a router or host. MANET works with an independent multi-hop mobile network which can be used in several real-time applications. Thus, an important issue associated with MANET is the identification of paths with high-level Quality of Service (QoS), like topology. The purpose of having a QoS-aware protocol in M… Show more

“…There are different reasons that motivated us to use MATLAB instead of other tools such as NS2 or NS3. The state-of-the-art related work such as the work of [42] used MATLAB in MANET research. MATLAB is defined as a computer programming tool that offers to the user a suitable environment for implementing numerous types of calculations in simple, swift, and efficient ways [43].…”

“…The simulation of the proposed BOLSR protocol is discussed in this section. The aim of the experimental tests of the simulation is to improve the MANET performance and prolong its lifespan [42]. The objective is to use the BOLSR to find the path with the highest levels of energy and a minimum delay.…”

“…These devices communicate exclusively through wireless connections, normally using a single, omnidirectional antenna. All nodes in the network are equal, and there are no designated routers, meaning that all nodes can serve both as end points of data communication and as intermediate relay points or routers [3]. In Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) [6], nodes are more heterogeneous in nature.…”

“…All communication and routing is performed by the backbone network. This approach is used in traditional wireless networks such as the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) [3], [5] and Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) [4]. There is no such backbone infrastructure exists in infrastructure-less wireless systems.…”

“…A MANET is a collection of wireless nodes that can dynamically form a network to exchange information without using any pre-existing fixed network infrastructure [1][2][3]. Each node in MANET uses its transmission range to send and receive packets [4,5].…”
