The insecticidal activity of Piper aduncum fruit has been reported, and the rice husk ash is well used as an alternative control of the new invasive pest Spodoptera frugiperda. This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of a mixture rice husk ash and P. aduncum fruit powder as an alternative control of S. frugiperda on maize. The study was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), including preliminary and follow-up tests. The test used the sowing method on the leaf, consisting of five treatments plus control and five replications. Observation parameters were larval mortality, larval development time, percentage of pupae formed, rate of imago appearing, and sex ratio. In general, a single treatment of P. aduncum fruit powder and rice husk ash can cause the death of S. frugiperda larvae, inhibit the development of larvae that survive after treatment, and reduce the percentage of pupae and imago when compared to controls. It also affects the ratio of males and females of imago appearance. Probit analysis of the mixed treatment of P. aduncum fruit powder and rice husk ash (1:1) showed the LC50 and LC95 values were 2.06 g and 12.93 g, respectively. A mixture of rice husk ash and P. aduncum fruit powder can be used as an alternative to control S. frugiperda with the index combination value at the LC50 and LC95level were 0.58 and 0.65 respectively, which indicates the index combination is a weak synergistic.

Spodoptera frugiperda is a new pest for maize in Indonesia. The research was aimed to obtain fruit organic extract of forest betel for S. frugiperda mortality in Laboratory. The research was conducted at Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University,Bina Widya Campus, Pekanbaru, Riau Province, Indonesia from February to April 2022. Experiment in completely randomized design was used in the study. There were six treatments and four replicates. 10 larvae instar three of S. frugiperda were infested for each treatment by using spraying method. The treatment was organic extract concentration of forest betel as follows : A0 ( 0 % of organic extract of forest betel), A1 (0.2 % of organic extract of forest betel), A2 (0.4 % of organic extract of forest betel), A3 (0.6 % of organic extract of forest betel), A4 (0.8 % of organic extract of forest betel) and A5 (1.0 % of organic extract of forest betel). The result showed that concentration of 0.8% was the effective one to mortality of S. frugiperda. The total mortality was 82.50% with early lethal time of 2.5 hours after application and lethal time 50 at 31 hours after application. Concentration of 0.32% or 3.2 ml.l−1 was appropriate one to kill 50% of population and concentration of 1.34% or 13.4 ml.l−1 was appropriate to kill 95% of S. frugiperda larvae population

The bacterial speciesXanthomonas axonopodispvallii(Xaa)is an important pathogen causing leaf blight in shallots. The use of botanical pesticides with nanoemulsion formulations has become acommon alternative.Thisstudyaimstodeterminethecharacteristicsand optimumconcentrationofthemixtureofessentialoilofPiper aduncumandfragrantCymbopogonnarduswaste.Nanoemulsion formulations are made using spontaneous emulsification methods. Besides,testingBacillusthuringiensisstrainMRSNR3.1andits secondary metabolitestoxicity against Xaa was carried out by the diffusion method using paper discs to determine the diameter of the inhibition zone.The results demonstrate that allfourconcentrations,1%, 2.5%, 5%,and7.5%, couldcontrol Xaa bacteria. A concentration of 1% is consideredmoreoptimal than the otherthreeconcentrations in bactericidal effects against Xaa,as manifested in the formed clear zone (diameter of 3.17 cm).Besides,Bacillus thuringiensisstrain MRSNR3.1 and its secondary metaboliteswere also effective againstXaa afterfourdays of incubation with inhibition zones of 3.04 ± 0.44 and2.21±0.28,respectively.Hence,itisconcludedthat nanoemulsion at 1% concentration andBacillus thuringiensisstrain MRSNR3.1 have bactericidal properties that can be used to controlXaa
