Inovações tecnológicas e indústria 4.0 na siderurgia

Abstract

A partir da abordagem neoschumpeteriana da tecnologia e da mudança econômica, este artigo propõe avaliar os efeitos da difusão das tecnologias da Indústria 4.0 para a dinâmica tecnológica, a estrutura de mercado e a heterogeneidade intrassetorial da indústria siderúrgica brasileira. Por meio de questionários respondidos por um representativo grupo de empresas, observou-se que as tecnologias da Indústria 4.0 tendem mais a melhorar a eficiência operacional e a produtividade da referida atividade do que revolucioná-la, permanecendo inalterada a escala mínima das plantas ou de equipamentos específicos. Identificou-se também que nas etapas de refino e laminação encontram-se as melhores oportunidades para aplicação das tecnologias da Indústria 4.0. Em termos de mudança da estrutura de mercado, constatou-se que os “clusters tecnológicos” tendem a favorecer as empresas já estabelecidas, sem alterações substanciais na intensidade e na natureza das barreiras à entrada.
