Abstract: Mutation of the simian virus 40 (SV40) origin of replication (ori) has revealed the presence of three critical domains needed for DNA replication. The outer two domains, the AT tract and early palindrome element (EP), colocalize with DNA regions that become structurally altered in the presence of the SV40 large tumor antigen (T antigen) and ATP.
