Influência de fatores ambientais sobre o crescimento in vitro de Hypnea musciformis (Wulfen) Lamouroux (Rhodophyta)

Abstract: -(The influence of environmental factors on in vitro growth of Hypnea musciformis (Wulfen) Lamouroux (Rhodophyta)). Hypnea musciformis (Wulfen) Lamouroux (Hypneaceae, Gigartinales) is an important carrageenan resource of Brazil used in the industry of phycocolloid gelling agent. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of temperature (20 ºC and 25 ºC), enriched seawater with Provasoli's solution and aeration on the in vitro development of this species. Thalli of H. musciformis were collecte… Show more

“…These differences of activities between the extracts can be explained by the different abiotic conditions in which the seaweed grew such as, temperature, nutritional conditions and salinity of the water. This strengthens the theory of BRAVIN & YONESHIGUE-VALETIN that environmental factors are able to influence the production of the compounds of the marine algae 6 , since these conditions vary from one place of collection to another.…”

“…It is known that environmental factors intervene with the production of the biomass of marine algae 6 and, it is believed that these factors can also influence the production of bioactive components in these algae and, influence its biological activities 32,36,44,52 . Therefore extracts of U. fasciata collected from different regions were tested.…”

“…Such recruitment patterns probably also occur on S. cymosum fronds. For the epiphytic algae, the epibiosis narrowly followed the S. cymosum patterns (see Reis et al , 2003), showing that shading due to turbidity and temperature may also influence the seasonal life cycle of these algae (see Bravin & Yoneshigue-Valentin, 2002 for experiments of environmental factors on H. musciformis ).…”

“…Since food is not considered as limiting factor for epiphyte herbivorous species, space must be elected. As epiphytic macroalgae commonly grows faster than host macroalgal (Bravin and Yoneshigue-Valentin, 2002) mesograzers such as amphipods play a role in epibiosis control and in shaping the landscape by a top-down control upon host and epiphytic algae (Jabocucci et al, 2008).…”
