Abstract: We studied the influence of silver nanoparticles (NPs) in the luminescence properties of TeO2–PbO–GeO2 glass doped with trivalent praseodymium (Pr3+) ions. The experiments were performed with samples containing different concentrations of NPs controlled by heat treatment of the glass. The enhancement of the Stokes luminescence with the increase of the NPs concentration was observed for samples excited at 454nm. The influence of the NPs on the frequency upconversion (anti-Stokes) emissions of Pr3+ under excitat… Show more

“…UC in Pr 3+ doped TeO 2 -PbO-GeO 2 glasses, excited at 520 nm ͑off resonance͒, was also reported. 9 The generation of the signal was attributed to a phonon-assisted optical transition from the Pr 3+ ground state ͑ 3 H 4 ͒ to the ͓ 3 P J ͑J =0,1,2͒, 1 I 6 ͔ manifold simultaneously with phonon annihilation, which was corroborated by the fact that the dependence on the incident light intensity of the UC intensity was linear.…”

“…Heavy metal oxide-based glass hosts with low phonon energy (resonance vibration of the matrix) are more favorable to diminish the multiphonon relaxation and increase the upconversion efficiency of RE ions [12,13]. Among the heavy metal oxide glasses, Sb 2 O 3 -based systems have captured our attention for photonic, particularly surface-plasmonenhanced luminescence applications due to its two unique properties.…”
