Influence of Loading History and Boundary Conditions on Parameters of Soil Constitutive Models

Abstract: Parameters of soil constitutive models are not constant. This mainly concerns the strain parameters such as K, G or Eoed modules. What influences their values is not only soil type, structure and consistency, but also the history of stress and strain states. So, it is the question of the current state but also of what happened to the subsoil in the past (regarding geological and anthropological activity) and what impact would have the planned soil–structure interaction. This paper presents an overview of the l… Show more

“…Alternating solutions are described. Among others, they are based on the Authors' experience gained from the research on the determination of stress-strain characteristics of cyclically loaded specimens of kaolin from Tułowice [5][6][7] and on the estimation of the influence of loading history on the parameters of soil constitutive models for normally consolidated Speswhite kaolin [8,9]. In the next chapter, the issues related to sampling and the inevitable structure and stress state disturbance will be presented.…”

“…by Burland [1], Atkinson et al [2] or Kowalska [3]. Thus even more important becomes the use of the stress path method (Lambe [4], Lambe and Marr [5], Davis and Poulos [6]) or the loading path method (Gryczmański and Kowalska [7], Kowalska [8]) in analyses of real 'soil -structure' interaction problems.…”
