Influence of Lateral Walls on Peristaltic Flow of a Couple Stress Fluid in a Non-Uniform Rectangular Duct

Abstract: Abstract:In the present investigation we have studied the peristaltic flow of a couple stress fluid in a non-uniform rectangular duct. The flow is investigated in a wave frame of reference moving with the velocity c away from the fixed frame. The peristaltic waves propagating on the horizontal side walls of a non-uniform rectangular duct is studied under lubrication approach. The exact solutions of velocity and pressure gradient have been found under lubrication approach. The pumping characteristics, axial pre… Show more

“…Down the years, many researchers have worked on the extension of the ideas presented in Subba Reddy et al 36 and Mandviwalla and Archer 37 by considering Newtonian fluids and non-Newtonian fluid models. 38 45 To the best of our knowledge, the study for peristaltic passages especially designed for the rectangle shaped ducts with slip bounded condition is still being researched. Due to this, we have deliberated the idea related to partial slip in the same shaped ducts for couple stressed fluids.…”

“…Riaz et al [12] modeled the unsteady peristaltic flow of Carreau fluid propagating through a small intestine and presented analytic solutions using the perturbation method. Akram et al [13] explored the behavior of lateral walls on the non-uniform, peristaltic-propelled three-dimensional flow of the couple stress fluid model. Ellahi et al [14] also discussed the three-dimensional motion of Carreau fluid with an external uniform magnetic field.…”

“…The study of peristaltic phenomenon in a rectangular channel was first examined by [16]. Based on the theory of [16], several researchers have studied the phenomenon of peristaltic transport in a rectangular duct under various approximations [17][18][19][20][21][22][23]. In the papers cited above, the phenomena of heat transfer are not taken into account.…”
