Abstract: Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) has mitogenic, motogenic, and morphogenic activities in epithelial cells. Induction of HGF production may be involved in organ regeneration, wound healing and embryogenesis. In this study, we examined the effects of caffeic acid derivatives including 4,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (1) and acteoside (2) on HGF production in Neonatal Normal Human Dermal Fibroblasts (NHDF). Both 4,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (1) and acteoside (2) significantly induced HGF production dose-dependent mann… Show more

“…Because of that reason, this combination of DOX with CA was applied for the evaluation of the anti-apoptotic and antioxidative effect. Literature data indicate the fact that CA has positive influence on normal cells, e.g., human dermal fibroblasts, where it induces Hepatocyte Growth Factor production on hepatocytes and where it may act as an anti-viral agent [ 41 , 42 ].…”

“…For example, Verbascum mucronatum is rich in various glycosides including pro‐WH one called verbascoside . It was shown that this phenylpropanoid glycoside is able to enhance hepatocyte growth factor production in human dermal fibroblasts . The WH properties of this compound are connected to its chemical nature ensuring stronger affinity for negatively charged membranes composed of phosphatidylglycerol .…”

“…For our concern, this extract was enriched with different dicaffeoylquinic acid derivatives including 4,5- and 3,4-dicaffeoylquinic acids. In line with our elucidated wound healing promoting effect of compound 2 (4,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid), Kurisu and his coworkers demonstrated the induction of the mitogenic factor hepatocyte growth factor by this compound in Neonatal Normal Human Dermal Fibroblasts [ 47 ]. Additionally, 4,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid from Artemisia absinthium potentiated the effect of antibacterial agents against bacteria that could potentially infect the wounds as Straphylococcus aureus [ 48 ].…”
