Abstract: Threonyl-tRNA synthetase (ThrRS) must discriminate among closely related amino acids to maintain the fidelity of protein synthesis. Here, a pre-steady state kinetic analysis of the ThRS-catalyzed adenylation reaction was carried out by monitoring changes in intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence.
