Individual Cholesterol Variation in Response to a Margarine- or Butter-Based Diet

Abstract: Our results suggest that individual variation in response to a cholesterol-lowering diet is a familial trait. Body weight is an important modifiable factor that influences response. JAMA. 2000;284:2740-2747.

Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). In another study, healthy subjects living in the United States given a margarine meal containing 1.5%E TFAs for 5 wk had significantly lower LDL-cholesterol levels compared with the values observed after subjects were given a butter meal containing 0.5%E from TFAs (15).
