Independent Dose–Response Associations between Fetuin-A and Lean Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Abstract: Patients with lean NAFLD make up an increasing subset of liver disease patients. The association between lean NAFLD and feutin-A, which serves as a hepatokine and adipokine, has never been examined. Our study aimed to explore the association of serum fetuin-A among lean and non-lean patients. The study comprised 606 adults from the community, stratified into lean or non-lean (BMI </≥ 24 kg/m2) and NAFLD or non-NAFLD (scoring of ultrasonographic fatty liver indicator, US-FLI ≥ 2/<2). Multivariate logistic… Show more

“…Fetuin-A has been widely studied in a variety of diseases including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (23), diabetes (24), cardiovascular disease (25), sepsis (17, 18), periodontitis (26,27), osteoarthritis (28), chronic kidney disease (29), inflammatory bowel disease (30), and encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (31). Many of these diseases are associated with inflammation.…”

“…Fetuin-A levels in NAFLD patients do not vary even with different diagnostic methods. [28][29] [30] The lowest average NFS value in the NAFLD group degree I was -1,87 (-2,67 to -0,85). Then the NFS average at NAFLD degree II was -0,85 (-1,96 to 0,38).…”

“…The combination of serum markers and other indicators is valuable for screening diseases due to their convenience, low cost and accurate diagnosis. Insulin resistance (IR) is involved in the pathogenesis and progression of lean NAFLD ( 8 ). Homeostatic model assessment for IR (HOMA-IR) is widely utilized in IR-related disorders and is the gold standard for diagnosing lean NAFLD ( 9 ).…”
