“…However, there was no statistically signiWcant diVerence between the three groups regarding BMD, and Z and T scores. This result puts forward that the type of mutation in FMF does not have an eVect on osteoporosis, which was also supported by the literature [4,7].…”

“…In the present study, we included more number of patients and investigated all of these parameters and did not determine bone loss in patients with FMF. The mean disease durations in these studies were 14 years in Yuksel et al's [7] study and 12 years in Yildirim et al's study, and the median disease duration was 5 years (2-10 years) in Suyani et al's study [8], whereas in the present study, it was 15.3 years, which suggests that the disease duration does not have an eVect on BMD in FMF. We did not Wnd a correlation between the disease duration and bone loss anyway, and nothing was mentioned on this subject in similar studies [6][7][8].…”

“…3 The relationship between BD and osteoporosis has not been studied intensively before but there are many studies on other rheumatic diseases such as familial Mediterranean fever and rheumatoid arthritis, which have similar etiopathogenesis with BD. 7 Behçet's disease is a chronic and complex disorder. Many organs can be involved.…”
