Altered serum levels of interleukin-3 in first-episode drug-naive and chronic medicated schizophrenia

“…Interestingly, we further found that serum IL-3 levels were significantly increased in chronic medicated patients with schizophrenia, which is consistent with our previous study (Xiu et al, 2015) and with another study showing significantly higher levels of IL-3 like activity (IL-3-LA) released by peripheral blood mononuclear cells in chronic medicated patients (Sirota et al, 1995). Our chronic patients had an average duration of illness of 23.4 ± 19.1 years and were treated with several different antipsychotic drugs.…”
