“…We found defective chemotaxis of the PMNs in 75% of our patients, a fmding occasionally reported by other investigators (1,2). The defect we saw should be considered primarily a cellular defect, because the patients' sera did not inhibit chemotaxis of control PMNs.…”

“…The defective chemotaxis of PMNs from patients with IP in the pigmented phase, even when there is no recurrent infection, does not seem to be a "fortuitous phenomenon" (1). but needs further investigations to explain its still obscure pathogenesis.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…The association with ichthyosis and incontinentia pigmenti described in two cases (Hill et al, 1974;Dahl et al, 1975) is probably fortuitous as it was with the psoriasis of our case (M.S. ).…”

“…It may also be possible that mast cells release ECF in IP. Increased mast cell numbers (16), high content of histamine (17) and of elevated serum IgE (18) have been reported in IP. On the other hand, Ogawa et al (19) found anti-cytoplasmic antibodies of normal human epidermal cells in both a newborn baby with IP and her normal mother.…”
