Repeated doses of vitamin C reduced the percentage of rifampicin-induced DNA damage in a significant and dose-dependent manner (Aly and Donya, 2002). Bijur et al (1997) suggest that the time at which vitamin C is administered in relation to oxidative stress exposure has an impact on its antimutagenic activity, which may explain the conflicting results concerning the effectiveness of ascorbic acid as a cancer chemopreventive agent.…”
