In Vivo 31P NMR Spectroscopy of Human Musculoskeletal Tumors as a Measure of Response to Chemotherapy

“…In a larger study with post‐chemotherapy follow‐up examinations in 15 patients, and assessment of necrosis upon surgery in eight cases, it was found that the reduction in PDE level (and in the ratios of PDE/Pi, PDE/NTP and PDE/PCr) measured shortly before surgery was associated with a high level of necrosis (162). Correlations of pre‐treatment spectra or early spectral changes with necrosis at resection or changes in tumour volume were neither reported in this study, nor in the ones cited next (157–159, 162, 165, 166). Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.
