In vitro antioxidant potential and phytochemical profiling of Melastoma malabathricum leaf water extract

Abstract: Melastoma malabathricum is one of the medicinal plants plated in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Its leaves extraction using organic solvents revealed bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity. However, the antioxidant activity, toxicity, and chemical profile of water extract of M. malabathricum leaves are still unknown. This study aimed to determine extraction conditions that provide water extract of M. malabathricum with the highest antioxidant activity and the lowest toxicity. The extraction conditions were … Show more

“…Interpreting all data and comparing them with references resulted in compound structures like the names obtained from LC-MS/MS (Table 3) and the fragmentation patterns in Figures 10-19. Compound 1 is cis-Caffeic acid (Santos et al, 2013), 2 (Baptifoline) (Chang et al, 2016), 3 (Arteamisinine I) (Oke et al, 2022), 4 (Harmol) (Fahmy et al, 2021), 5 (1,4-Dihydroxy-2-methyl-anthraquinone) (Saha et al, 2015), 6 (3R)-5′-Methoxy-vestitol (Bankova et al, 2016), 7 (5,7-Dihydroxy-3-(4'hydroxybenzyl) chromone (Robbani et al, 2022), 8 (Aschantin) (Patyra et al, 2022), and 9…”

“…Hunaepi et al (2018) state that integrating local wisdom into education makes students appreciate local culture, builds their character, stimulates curiosity, and fosters a desire to solve problems through critical thinking. Additionally, according to Lestari & Yuliana (2014), character education, especially environmental care, can make students more environmentally conscious and capable of preserving the environment. One of the functions of local wisdom is conservation and preservation of natural resources (Maridi, 2015).…”
