“…This could be explained either by high GSH utilization for conjugation and/or its participation in neutralizing free radicals generated by MMI exposure. Our results are in agreement with previous reports of Bagchi et al (1995) and Baskol et al (2007) who demonstrated that hypothyroidism might generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), which in turn could enhance lipid peroxidation leading to DNA damage. Co‐administration of Se to MMI‐treated rats restored MDA and GSH levels to near normal values in their pups.…”
