In silico characterization of putative drug targets in Staphylococcus saprophyticus, causing bovine mastitis

Abstract: The bovine mastitis caused by coagulase negative staphylococci (CNS) has increased in many herds of urban and rural areas of India. Emergence of multi drug resistant bacteria has further made its management more complex and serious. Therefore, innovation of novel specific drug for the treatment of disease caused by particular organism remained to be a challenge. Hence, in the present study a bacterium was isolated from milk of the cow with bovine mastitis and was identified as S. saprophyticus, 44 pathways of … Show more

“…By integrating diverse types of omics data, these approaches can identify key components and pathways involved in immune system function and drug response [ 22 , 109 ]. This can aid in identifying novel drug targets and repurposing existing drugs for use in livestock [ 110 , 111 ]. Furthermore, network pharmacology can predict drug interactions and side effects, enabling the selection of safe and effective drug combinations for complex diseases [ 93 , 112 ].…”

“…Salmonella has been identified as a major cause of economic losses in domestic livestock, and is also a serious zoonotic pathogen worldwide [20]. LpxC-2 could potentially be used in controlling a wide spectrum of economically important livestock diseases such as those causing mastitis [21][22][23], endometritis, abscesses and general malaise by pathogens such as Pasteurella multocida [24], and infections caused by several members of the Enterobacteriaceae family such as Escherichia coli.…”
