Abstract: This paper presents an improved battery parameter estimation method based on typical operating scenarios in hybrid electric vehicles and pure electric vehicles. Compared with the conventional estimation methods, the proposed method takes both the constant-current charging and the dynamic driving scenarios into account, and two separate sets of model parameters are estimated through different parts of the pulse-rest test. The model parameters for the constant-charging scenario are estimated from the data in the… Show more

“…As indicated earlier, given that a supercapacitor can be modeled as an electrical equivalent circuit as shown in Figure 5, the voltage after the sampling period can be estimated as shown in Equation (13). Thus, using the current and predicted voltages, the lumped resistance value can be expressed by Equation (14).…”

“…In Figure 2, when a pulse current of I [A] is applied to the battery for a period t 1 -t 2 , the values V bat,t1 and V bat,t2 can be measured from the voltage response of the battery. Based on this experimental result, it is possible to obtain the lumped resistance, which is the impedance of the battery, by applying the pulse current to the battery and using Equation (1), i.e., Ohm's law [7,8,13,14]. power.…”

“…This category seeks to determine an ECM's unknown parameters using the current/voltage measurement data from a system identification perspective. The studies in [26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33] consider pulse current charging/discharging experiments and use the data to identify an ECM's RC parameters by fitting the model to the pulse phase voltage [26,27], the relaxation phase voltage [28][29][30][31], or both of them [32,33]. Some other studies perform similar data-fitting-based RC parameter estimation using data from variable current charging/discharging tests, while exploiting generic optimization [34], grey-box optimization [35], sequential quadratic programming [36], or particle swarm optimization [37,38] as the solution tools.…”

“…The lithium-ion battery has been investigated broadly, including equivalent circuit modeling and parameter estimation [3,4], state of charge and peak power estimation [5,6], battery pack equalization [7], and battery capacity decay [8]. Recently, battery heating-related characteristics have been a research focus.…”
