Impedance‐based analysis of grid harmonic interactions between aggregated flyback micro‐inverters and the grid

Abstract: Grid harmonic interactions due to aggregated flyback micro-inverters are investigated in this study. An impedancebased model based on the Norton model of flyback micro-inverters, which are with quasi-resonant peak-current control, is obtained by adopting the small-signal modelling approach. As a supplement to the existing output impedance modelling of string inverters with linear controllers, further study on micro-inverters under non-linear control is addressed in this study. Based on the derived impedance mo… Show more

“…Thus, in essence, the micro inverter simply takes all the functions of a string inverter and miniaturizes them to the module (instead of string) level. A typical interconnection for a micro inverter-based PV system is shown in Figure 5 [23,[44][45][46][47][48][49]. This configuration is very attractive for a low voltage grid; thus, it is particularly suitable to the BIPV application.…”

“…Despite the large number of published work on hardware mitigation techniques, a comprehensive review on this subject is lacking. For example, although there are a number of review articles on micro inverters, [4,[21][22][23][24], they are specifically focused on the former and did not cover other categories. Recently, a detailed review paper (which includes performance evaluation) was written on mismatch mitigation using hardware solutions [25].…”

“…A typical multi-parallel grid-connected inverters system is demonstrated in Figure 1. Although the technological advance of multi-parallel grid-connected inverters has promoted the rapid development of distributed generation, it also results in a complex coupling relationship between the grid and inverters [5,6], which tends to bring about the resonance [7][8][9][10]. The resonance in a multi-parallel inverters system not only affects the power quality, but also brings about other problems, such as damaging the relay protection devices and threatening the security and stability of the power grid.…”
