Impacto da atrodese lombar sobre flexibilidade, AVDs e sexualidadede em mulheres

Abstract

Background: Lumbar arthrodesis is used to treat herniated discs and spinal trauma, but it limits movement. It is not clear how much the problem impacts ADLs and sexual life. Aims: To study the impacts of lumbar arthrodesis on ADLs, flexibility and sexuality in women. Method: case series in which four patients treated at a teaching clinic were subjected to the Oswestry Index, Schöber test and a sexual dysfunction questionnaire. The results were discussed using descriptive statistics and new insights were released to the scientific community. Results: All volunteers presented significant restriction of flexibility and serious impact on ADLs, including sleep. Sexual dysfunction was present in all of them. Conclusion: Lumbar arthrodesis reduces flexibility and significantly restricts women's ADLs, including sleep, having a significant impact on sexual function. New studies on the topic are urgent.
